The four days, and what to play on each
Bhogi (day 1) is cleaning and the bonfire — a quick Antakshari round around the fire. Thai Pongal / Sankranti (day 2) is the feast: after it, the riddle round (vidukathai in Tamil homes, podupu kathalu in Telugu ones) and Name Place Animal Thing. Mattu Pongal / Kanuma (day 3) is the cattle day and, on many terraces, kite day — the scoreboard keeps the cuts honest. Kaanum Pongal / Mukkanuma (day 4) is visiting day: the quiz on the TV and a card night with points only.
Riddles in three languages
Every family has an elder who asks riddles. The three riddle pages hide the answer until you tap, show a Roman line for children who cannot read the script yet, and keep a score — so the round can run for half an hour without anyone reaching for a phone to look up the answer.
