Indian Rummy rules — pure sequence, impure sequence, sets
Each player gets 13 cards. To declare, arrange all 13 into groups where at least two are sequences, and at least one of those is a pure sequence — three or more consecutive cards of the same suit with no joker (♥7-♥8-♥9).
An impure sequence may use a joker in place of a missing card. A set is three or four cards of the same rank in different suits (K♥ K♠ K♣). A valid declare is typically two sequences (one pure) plus sequences or sets covering the rest.
How points are counted
In points rummy, losers count the cards not in valid groups: face cards and aces 10 each, number cards face value, jokers zero. A wrong declare costs the full 80-point penalty; first drop 20, middle drop 40. Lowest total across rounds wins — this table keeps all the scores automatically.
13 card vs 21 card rummy
13-card is the standard Indian game and what this table deals. 21-card rummy is the marathon version played at festivals: three pure sequences required, extra jokers (upper and lower), and value cards that score bonuses. What are the rules of 13-card Indian Rummy?
You get 13 cards. On each turn draw one card (closed pile or open pile) and discard one. Arrange all 13 into sequences (3+ consecutive cards of one suit) and sets (3–4 cards of one rank). A valid declaration needs at least two sequences, one of them pure (no jokers). Losers score their ungrouped cards — face cards and aces count 10 — capped at 80.
What is a pure sequence?
Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit with no joker standing in — for example 4♥ 5♥ 6♥. Every valid show must contain at least one. A wild-rank card played as its own natural value (like K♥ inside Q♥ K♥ A♥ when kings are wild) still counts as pure.
What does the wild joker do?
One card is cut from the deck when dealing; every card of that rank (plus the printed jokers) becomes wild and can stand in for any card in a set or an impure sequence. Wilds score zero.
What is 101 Pool and 201 Pool rummy?
Pool rummy is elimination scoring, the format the big rummy apps run: rounds keep dealing, your points pile up, and the moment your total reaches the pool limit (101 or 201) you are out of the table. The last player left in takes the pool.
