What is Letter Wheel?
An alphabet wheel with all twenty-six letters, for every game that starts with “pick a letter”. It is the referee for Scattergories, Categories and Name Place Animal Thing, the warm-up for a phonics lesson, and the quickest way to run a round of “name a city beginning with…” in the car. Because the wheel is fixed, nobody can quietly drop Q and X, and nobody can be accused of choosing an easy letter.
On a classroom board in fullscreen the result card shows the letter large enough for the back row. Spin again for a new letter; the Remove Winner option takes used letters off the wheel so a lesson works through the alphabet without repeats.
Letter games for one wheel
- Categories / Scattergories: spin a letter, set a two-minute timer, five categories, unique answers score
- Name Place Animal Thing: the classic Indian version — the Letter Wheel replaces the “stop!” shout
- Alphabet hunt (ages 3–6): spin, then find an object in the room beginning with that letter
- Phonics: spin, say the sound, then three words that start with it
- Story chain: each sentence of the story must start with the next letter spun
- Car game: cities, foods, film titles or cricketers starting with the letter — first to stall is out

How to play Letter Wheel
- Type or paste your entries in the box beside the wheel — one per line (or use the ready-made list).
- Press SPIN (or hit Space / Enter). The wheel accelerates, slows down naturally and lands on a random segment.
- Read the winner in the result card, then choose Play Again, Remove Winner to spin without it, or Share the result.
- Use ⛶ Fullscreen to put the wheel on a TV, projector or classroom board.

Letter Wheel works with 1+ players and a typical round takes about 20 sec. Recommended age: All ages.

Letter Wheel FAQ
Does the letter wheel include Q, X and Z?
Yes, all 26 letters are on the wheel with equal odds. For young children you can build a simpler wheel of easy letters in Spin the Wheel.
Can it avoid repeating a letter?
Turn on Remove Winner and each letter leaves the wheel after it is spun. Reset when the wheel is empty.
Is it fair for word games?
The letter is chosen by secure random number before the animation; the spin is only the reveal, so no one can nudge the result.
Can I exclude hard letters like Q, X and Z?
Use the Random Letter Generator for vowel/consonant filters and exclusions; the wheel always shows the full alphabet.
Is Letter Wheel really random?
Yes. The winning segment is chosen with the browser's cryptographically secure random generator before the animation plays, so the spin cannot be influenced by timing or by how hard you "spin".
How many entries can I add?
Up to 100 entries on one wheel. For large lists the segments get thin, so for 50+ names consider the Random Name Picker instead.
