What is Last Letter Game?

Last Letter is the word game every family invents on a long drive — and this version keeps score so nobody can cheat. CAT ends in T, so the next player needs a T word: TABLE. Then E: ELEPHANT. Then T again. The chain scrolls across the screen and the timer keeps everyone honest.

Defaults are tuned for younger players (25 seconds, three lives, two-letter minimum); switch to Family or Hard for a sharper game.

Last Letter Game FAQ

What happens when a word ends in X or Z?

The next player has a tough one — that is part of the fun. If nobody can think of one, they can pass and lose a life.

Is it the same as Shiritori?

Very close. Shiritori is the Japanese version with an extra rule; we have a separate Shiritori page with those rules.

How many prompts does Last Letter Game have?

Hundreds, hand-written and shuffled so replays feel new. Every category is family-safe unless labelled otherwise.

Can we play in teams?

Yes — enter team names instead of players and the game keeps a team scoreboard.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded, the whole game runs in your browser; a brief connection drop will not stop it.
