What is Chore Wheel?
The chore wheel exists for one reason: nobody can argue with a spin. Put the household jobs on the segments, add the names of everyone who lives there, and let the wheel pair them up in front of witnesses. The default wheel comes loaded with the ten jobs most homes fight about — washing dishes, taking out the trash, vacuuming, laundry, cooking dinner, cleaning the bathroom, watering plants, the grocery run, mopping and folding clothes — and every segment can be renamed, so a hostel floor, a two-person flat and a family of six can each build their own.
Two ways to run it. Spin once per job (the wheel holds names, each spin assigns the job on the card to the person it lands on), or spin once per person (the wheel holds jobs, each housemate takes a turn). Remove Winner takes a job off the wheel once it is taken, so the last person left is not spinning for a job that has already gone.

How to play Chore Wheel
- Type or paste your entries in the box beside the wheel — one per line (or use the ready-made list).
- Press SPIN (or hit Space / Enter). The wheel accelerates, slows down naturally and lands on a random segment.
- Read the winner in the result card, then choose Play Again, Remove Winner to spin without it, or Share the result.
- Use ⛶ Fullscreen to put the wheel on a TV, projector or classroom board.
How many players?
Chore Wheel works with 2+ players and a typical round takes about 20 sec. Recommended age: All ages.
Best occasions
Tips
- Spin with everyone watching — the fairness is the point, so a solo spin and a screenshot never settles anything.
- Add a “Free pass” segment for the week someone is ill or has exams; it comes up rarely and takes the sting out.
- Share makes a link that opens the same wheel, so the rota can live in the family group chat.
- Keep entries short so every segment stays readable.
- Use Remove Winner to run a fair elimination or a giveaway with several prizes.
Chore Wheel FAQ
Can the wheel assign a chore to everyone at once?
Yes — put the names on the wheel, keep the chores in a list beside you, and spin once per chore. Turn on Remove Winner so a person who has been given a job drops off the wheel until the round is done; then reset and go again next week.
How do I stop the same person always getting the worst job?
Run the wheel in rounds with Remove Winner on, so everyone gets exactly one job before anyone gets a second. If one job is much bigger (the bathroom), give it two segments on a “points” wheel and let the person who draws it skip the next spin.
Does it remember our chores?
Your entries are saved in this browser, so the wheel is still there next week on the same phone or laptop. To use it on another device, send yourself the Share link.
Can I remove a chore once it is assigned?
Yes — use Remove Winner after each spin so every chore is assigned exactly once.
Is Chore Wheel really random?
Yes. The winning segment is chosen with the browser's cryptographically secure random generator before the animation plays, so the spin cannot be influenced by timing or by how hard you "spin".
How many entries can I add?
Up to 100 entries on one wheel. For large lists the segments get thin, so for 50+ names consider the Random Name Picker instead.
