What is Music Quiz?
A music quiz about music, not lyrics: instruments and their families, famous bands and albums, musical terms (what is a tempo, what does “forte” mean), national anthems, record-breaking artists and the basics of notation. It is the round for a room with a music teacher in it, or a family where one person plays and everyone else pretends to understand.
For singing games, Antakshari and the Rhythm Challenge are the ones to open; this is the sit-down, four-option quiz.
Music rounds to add around the quiz
- Instrument sounds: play ten seconds of an instrument on YouTube, name it
- Intro round: play the first three seconds of a song, name the artist (host’s playlist, no lyrics displayed)
- Antakshari between rounds to get the room singing
- Humming round: hum a famous tune, the team names it
- Rhythm Challenge for the high-energy middle
- Decade round: name the year a famous album was released
- Instrument families: sort twelve instruments into strings, brass, woodwind and percussion
- Finale: Music Quiz, ten questions, timer on
