What is Geography Quiz?
A geography quiz on the things a geography lesson actually covers: capitals, which country a city belongs to, the longest river, the highest mountain, the biggest desert, which ocean touches which coast. Ten questions a round, four options each, instant marking and a score at the end — short enough for a form-time starter, repeatable enough for a quiz night.
It pairs with the Flag Quiz (identify the country from its flag) and the India Quiz (states, capitals and rivers of India). This one is world geography.
Geography facts the quiz keeps coming back to
- Longest river: the Nile is traditionally listed first, the Amazon carries far more water — the quiz asks about both
- Highest mountain above sea level: Everest; tallest from base: Mauna Kea; the quiz means Everest
- Largest hot desert: the Sahara; largest desert of any kind: Antarctica
- Largest country by area: Russia; by population: India
- Capital traps: Australia is Canberra, not Sydney; Canada is Ottawa; Turkey is Ankara; Brazil is Brasília
- Only continent with no permanent population: Antarctica
- Countries with coasts on two oceans include the USA, Mexico, Canada, Colombia and South Africa
- The equator crosses 13 countries, including Ecuador (named for it), Kenya, Indonesia and Brazil

- For a longer night, chain this with the Flag Quiz and the Science Quiz using the Scoreboard.
- Pass the phone and play "one question each" for a group round.
- Use the Scoreboard tool for team tournaments across several quizzes.
Geography Quiz FAQ
What topics does the geography quiz cover?
World capitals, countries and their cities, rivers, mountains, deserts, oceans and continents. It does not cover Indian states and districts — that is the India Quiz.
Is the geography quiz good for school?
Yes: ten-question rounds fit a lesson starter, the questions match the usual world-geography syllabus for ages 10–14, and it runs fullscreen on a board.
Do the questions repeat?
Rounds are drawn at random from the bank, and the quiz remembers which questions you have answered on this device so new ones come first.
How many questions does the Geography Quiz have?
Every round draws 10 questions at random from a much larger themed bank, so you can replay for a different set.
